HISTORY

In March 1965, the North Bethesda Camera Club held its first meeting with a goal of producing better photographers through assignments and competition.  Founded by Ed and Una Flynn, the first meeting was held at the Davis Library in Bethesda, MD. The first assignment given to the 60 attendees was: “Make a pleasing and creative photo using 3 apples, 1 plate and 1 knife.”

Within a few years, NBCC became a major contender for photographic honors in local and national contests, with many members achieving recognition for outstanding work. We were the first club to win the camera club category in Nature’s Best Photography Magazine’s international photography competition.  Images of many past NBCC events can be seen in the Gallery under Historic Photos.

In order to maintain a friendly atmosphere and personal contact, which is so important to us, our membership is currently limited to 175, ranging from amateurs to professional photographers.
